endoscopic study on portal hypertensive colopathy in cirrhotic patients

Background and Aim: Liver Cirrhosis patients are more prone to lower gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding hypothetically caused by portal hypertensive colopathy (PHC) anorectal varices (ARVs). The present study aimed determine the incidence of colopathic lesions investigate their association with cirrhosis severity manifestation. Patients Methods: This cross-sectional was carried out on 80 liver in Department Gastrointestinal, CMH Hospital Lahore from January 2021 December 2022. Individuals aged >18 years were enrolled. Each individual underwent laboratory, clinical, ultrasonographic examinations. Upper endoscopy used detect PHC. Based severity, categorized into three grades: grade I (colonic mucosa), II (mucosa mosaic-like pattern), III (angiodysplasia-like colon lesions). SPSS version 27 for data analysis. Results: overall mean age 48.62±5.6 an range 19 70 years. Of total patients, there 60 (75%) male 20 (25%) females. Child-Pugh classification as follows: Class A 16 (20%), B 29 (36.3%), C 35 (43.7%).
